What to pack and how to pack it

Our recommended packing list, plus a video of how we pack our bikes. Feel free to mix it up depending on your needs! If you have any questions or are missing something don’t hesitate to contact us and we can help.

B I K E  G E A R

☐ Bike (a gravel bike is recommended for this trip)

☐ Helmet

☐ Bikepacking bags (seat bag, handlebar roll, frame bag, etc. Or some dry bags and creative use of voile straps can work too!)

☐ A couple extra dry bag/stuff sacks

☐ Bike shoes

☐ Camelbak or water reservoir backpack/hip pack (to hold some snacks, water, and maybe a layer or two)*

☐ 1-2 one liter Smartwater (or other brand) water bottles (carries more volume than standard bike water bottles and fit in bottle cage)*

(*ensure you have ability to carry 3 liters of water minimum)

C L O T H E S

☐ 2-3 Pair padded bike shorts

☐ 2-4 Short sleeve wicking top

☐ 1 Long sleeve wicking top

☐ 1 Bike baggy shorts (if desired)

☐ Bike gloves

☐ Rain jacket

☐ 1 Warm layer for riding (light fleece or packable windbreaker)

☐ Puffy coat for camp*

☐ 2-3 Sports bras

☐ 3-4 Pairs bike socks

☐ Warm base layers (leggings + thermal) for sleep/camp*

☐ 2-3 Pair underwear

☐ 1 Pair warm socks for camp*

☐ Camp shoes (tevas, crocs, light sandals, etc.)

☐ Weatherproof gloves*

☐ Hat/buff*

*Evenings in the Colorado Rockies can bring cold weather! Non-cotton warm layers are essential.

S L E E P  S Y S T E M

☐ Shelter - tent, bivy, hammock, or tarp (depending on size/comfort level could share with other Galpackas for the weekend, let us know if interested in the carpool excel sheet*)

☐ Camp pillow (optional - a bunched up puffy jacket works too)

☐ 4 days of riding snacks* (Meals are provided!)

*Note: you can always restock snacks at Cathedral Cabins on the second night: that way you don’t have to carry as much! They have a well stocked snack store.

*If you are coming on the trip solo and are interested in a tent buddy let us know in the carpool document and we will coordinate pairing folks at the trailhead. Also, if you don’t have a stove, don’t stress! Give us a heads up and we can ensure it is covered in group gear.
